Lynn King

Artistic Director - Education

Lynn King is an actress (her first passion), director, and theatre educator.  She is a native of Kansas City, Kansas and has been performing for Kansas City audiences for most of her adult career. She received her MFA in Acting/Directing from the University of Missouri, Kansas City and has regional and national credits in theatre, commercials, and film. Lynn has been a member of the KC Melting Pot Theatre (KCMPT) family since the beginning. She is one of the original members of the KCMPT Collective, appearing in their first-ever production of Old School Ghetto Gospel, in 2013. She was honored to be given her first professional directing opportunity with KCMPT in the 2019-20 season with her interpretation of For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf. Lynn has expertise, experience and passion for the theatre from a life devoted to theatrical performance and continued personal study. Lynn has had the opportunity to coach and help with the development of many new and experienced actors. She has spent several years teaching in traditional theatre classrooms and is a roaming Adjunct Theatre Professor. Lynn credits her positive path and continued involvement in the theatre to loving and supportive family and friends, and the theatre professionals and educators across this city and beyond who believe in her.
